It's 1971 All Over Again...Madison Wins the Gold Cup
It's
a woman's race! Kathy Shuler, sporting last year's winner's (Laura Kosciuszko)"relaxed
style of ownership" (she showed up before the Final) walked away with the
Gold (colored plastic) after winning the Final Heat. Mark Weber's fleet had
a perfect day entering the final, placing three boats on the front row! On lap
3, however, the brand-new Wha Happen Too and the Notre Dame collided and spun.
By the time things settled down, Kathy's Miss Madison snuck through and took
the lead. The cowling-less Notre Dame gave a hard charge toward the end, but
it was the Madison that crossed the line first.
New
boats included the Miss Chrysler Crew, two 1958 Miss Bardahl's, and the Wha
Happen Too. ALL of the new boats ran GREAT and looked equally beautiful.
Even though Casper-Prop had a late start, we still plan to have at least one
